Recipe for Banana Pancakes





This is a simple recipe for banana pancakes.

If you like banana nut bread then these banana nut pancakes should really hit the spot. These delicious banana pancakes were a hit at my house served with warm applesauce. They would also be delicious with homemade pancake syrup.

However unlike banana bread, you probably should avoid over ripe bananas as they will fall apart while you "caramelize" them (recipe below).

Recipe for Banana Pancakes: Ingredients


  • 3 cups of all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp. of salt

  • 1/2 cup of sugar

  • 3 tsp. of baking powder

  • 1 tsp. of baking soda

  • 3 eggs - beaten

  • 1 stick of butter - melted

  • 2 1/2 cups of whole milk



For the Caramelized Bananas

  • 3 bananas - sliced

  • 1 cup of walnut pieces

  • 1 stick of butter - 1/2 cup

  • 2/3 cup of brown sugar






Recipe for Banana Pancakes: Ingredients

Place all the ingredients in a bowl and mix thoroughly. Either a hand mixer or a stand mixer are perfect for this process. Let the batter "sit" for about 10 minutes.

While you are letting the batter "sit", melt the butter in pan. Add the sugar, nutmeg, bananas and walnuts. Mix with a wooden spoon the whole time. Cook - on medium to high heat - until the sugar begins to brown and thicken, and the banana nut mixture is well coated.

Add the caramelized bananas and nuts to the batter.

Cook on a warm griddle - or pan. Flip the pancakes when the edges are dry. Cook until brown and cooked through. Serve immediately topped with butter and warm apple sauce (recipe below.)






Banana Nut Pancakes: Applesauce Topping


  • 1 - 50 oz - jar of plain applesauce

Put all the ingredients in a saucepan. Cook on medium to low heat until heated through. Drizzle on top of your banana nut pancakes
