How to make bread sticks? Easy! And this recipe makes the best bread sticks!

1 package or 2 1/4 t. active dry yeast
1 cup warm water
1/2 cup butter, melted
3 - 3 1/2 cups flour
2 T. sugar
1 1/2 t. salt
Parmesan cheese

Dissolve yeast in warm water. Add 1/4 cup butter, 2 cups flour, sugar and salt. Mix until well blended.

Continue mixing adding remaining flour 1/2 cup at a time until dough starts to clean the side of the bowl. It will be smooth and elastic.

At this point you may choose to let it rise for an hour, but I generally skip this step.

Divide dough into 8 to 10 pieces. Roll out into rectangles about 1/4 inch thick. Brush with some of the remaining butter - but leave some for the end, please.

Roll into bread sticks and place in 400 degree oven for about 15 minutes or until just starting to turn golden brown.

Brush again with remaining butter and sprinkle with parmesan cheese.

Serve immediately!
