Ingredients For This Gourmet Hot Cocoa

Note: Natural cocoa powder would also work but make the hot cocoa more acidic. The flavor would be little affected.

  • 4 Tbs. of sugar

Variations for Mexican Hot Cocoa: omit the cinnamon and add a dash of cayenne powder or red chili powder instead.

  • A pinch of salt

  • 1 cup of milk

  • 1 cup of heavy cream or half and half

  • Optional ingredients: marshmallows, whipped cream, candy cane pieces or stick

Instructions For This "Best Cocoa Recipe"

Add the sugar, cinnamon and salt and blend well.

In a saucepan, whisk with the milk and cream and place on the stove.

Cook on medium heat until hot. Remember to stir regularly so that the bottom of your pan does not get scortched.

Curl up in front of the fire under a quilt, with a good book or give a cup to a friend while sharing a meaningful time together and enjoy!
