Extra Rich Homemade Chocolate Pudding

Homemade chocolate pudding can be made in almost no time in your own kitchen and trust me...your taste buds will thank you.

This chocolate pudding recipe is nothing like the chemical laden kind you buy at your grocery store - which has enough preservatives to sit on the shelves for years...yes, years.

God only knows what it truly does to our bodies.

Then again, it is unfair to compare a commercial pudding with this homemade pudding because this chocolate pudding recipe won't last long enough to need preservatives anyway.

Over the years, I have tried many homemade pudding recipes but this one is the winner. It is thick, creamy, rich and has a wonderful decadent flavor. If you are a chocolate lover, you must try it.

It is true that it requires more ingredients than other some other chocolate pudding recipes. But all I ask is that you give it a try and discover for yourself that this homemade chocolate pudding is worth every ounce of added effort. It does not even take longer to make this homemade pudding rather than any other chocolate pudding recipe.

As I said before If you call yourself a chocolate lover*** this marvelous homemade pudding will satisfy your sweet tooth and your chocolate cravings as well. As a matter of fact you may want to make this chocolate pudding recipe in secret as you may not want to share!

Note: ***Some even say you can lose weight with chocolate! Never tried it...but I'd love to!

When you have made a batch please send me your reviews or any tip, comment, or even another homemade chocolate pudding recipe.

Homemade Chocolate Pudding

Ingredients For Homemade Chocolate Pudding

  • 3/4 cup of sugar

  • 3 Tbs. of cornstarch - or potato starch

  • 1/3 cup Dutch process cocoa powder - you may use natural cocoa powder as well

  • 1/8 tsp. of salt

  • 2 cups of milk

  • 1 cup of heavy cream

  • 4 eggs yolks

  • 4 ounces of semi-sweet or bittersweet chocolate cut into morsels

  • 1 Tb. of unsalted butter

  • Whipped topping - optional

  • Grated chocolate for decoration - optional

Instructions For This Chocolate Pudding Recipe

Mix the sugar, cornstarch, cocoa, salt, milk, and heavy cream in a pan. Blend well and continue stirring so that nothing sticks to the bottom.

Place on the stove top on medium heat and heat through.

Add the egg yolks one at a time and blend thoroughly after each addition

Add the chocolate morsels and stir until melted.

When the pudding has thickened, remove from heat.

Add the butter and the vanilla.

Serve warm or cold.

At my house we like it much better cold. It seems the chocolate flavor is much richer when cold.

Note: You can also make it into popsicles by using some molds
