Easy Sugar CookiesThis is a truly an easy sugar cookies recipe. But before I share this recipe I must tell that I have a secret... Shhhh! but I have never been a fan of sugar cookies. Please, if you are a sugar cookie lover, bear with me as I explain. I mean...if you want a cookie - in my opinion - there are so many better choices than a simple sugar cookie. Think cookies with nuts, chocolate, caramel...Yum! Most sugar cookies I have eaten are hard and tasteless. Christmas sugar cookies seem to be a favorite of some people..but not me. Now, don't get me wrong...if there were no other cookies...a sugar cookie was better than nothing! When I thought about gourmet cookies...sugar cookies were not at the top of the list...actually, they were not even on my list. All this changed in the fall of 2008 when I tasted these soft sugar cookies and became an immediate fan. They are buttery, soft, chewy...a pure delight. I asked my friend for the recipe only to find out that it is a family recipe. She got it from her mother over 20 years ago who received it from her mom...how cool is that? So these are true honest to goodness old fashioned sugar cookies. My friend said she simply called it: "Mom's Sugar Cookie Recipe." These easy sugar cookies are a sure winner. You can make a batch for any occasion and decorate them accordingly: pumpkins for the fall, heart shaped for Valentine's Day,...decorate them and voila! It is such a versatile sugar cookies recipe. Now they are not healthy sugar cookies...but then again can you make healthy sugar cookies? Isn't that an oxymoron: sugar and healthy in the same sentence? Make a batch of these soft sugar cookies with some kids and make unforgetable memories. Plus, if you are a pro at making cookies, you could even start a homebased business! Go ahead, please make a batch of these old fashioned sugar cookies and then let me know what you think...psst, don't forget the pictures! Instructions For These Easy Sugar CookiesCream the butter and the sugar until the mixture is thick and light in color. Note: I use my stand mixer. Add the eggs, one at a time. When they are well blended, add the vanilla. In another bowl, mix the flour, salt, baking soda and nutmeg. Add to the butter mixture and blend well. Form into a ball and cover with a plastic wrap. Refrigerate 4 hours before rolling and cutting. Roll to desired thickness - around 1/4 inch - cut with cookie cutters. Place on greased
cookie sheet - I use stainless steel cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 7 to 8 minutes. Store in an airtight container or a Ziplock bag. Note: My friend made this suggestion "The less flour needed to roll and cut successfully the more tender the cookie!" Would You Like to Share this Page?
