A good kitchen stand mixer is NOT a "gadget." Instead it is a wonderful and versatile tool that will make your life so much easier. Any cook should have one.

Stand Mixer Reviews

The most famous of all stand mixers are the Kitchen Aid Stand Mixers. They come in nifty colors that you can harmonize with your kitchen colors.

That's a plus.

But beside being cute how well do they fair?

I was not impressed. I know I would ask my kitchen stand mixer to work hard. For example, kneading - mixing - bread dough is hard work and I wanted my stand mixer to be able to withstand that sort of abuse.

So the search went on.

I found - by total providence - a Delonghi. Delon...what? You say.

Well that's what I said!

I had never heard of it. So how good could it be?

Well...

It's awesome and for various reasons. It is:.

• Powerful

• Sturdy

• Easy

I have had mine quite some years now - 2002 - and I have put it through a lot of abuse. When most my other kitchen tools have given up the ghost - I am on my third blender and second griddle in the same amount of time - my Delonghi stand mixer is still going strong.

I use mine a lot for all kinds of things:

• Bread

• Cookies

• Pancakes

• Mashed potatoes (yep, that's right!)

• Pizza dough

• And much more.

I am so in love with my Delonghi stand mixer that I said: "when it dies I'll buy another Delonghi!"

UPDATE...on Best Stand Mixer Reviews

I recently discovered that my beloved Delonghi kitchen stand mixer is...gasp..discontinued!

Everywhere I looked..."discontinued" or "out of stock!" This is bad!

What would I do? To me this was the BEST stand mixer!

The search was back on.

The name Bosch came up a lot...might be good...I don't know. The Bosch stand mixer did not do much for me.

I hit pay dirt when I came across the Cuisinart stand mixer. It even looks like my Delonghi!

So I think I have a new love...a Cuisinart...if ever my Delonghi klunks out...and I pray that it does not any time soon!
