Have you ever wondered what is the difference between a muffin and a cupcake? I have! After all, both are made in muffin pans!

The difference is not huge: A muffin is a type of small cake - or sweet bread - that is baked in an individual portion size. Muffins are usually not as sweet as cupcakes and they do not usually have frosting.

Cupcakes - also called fairy cakes in England and Ireland - are individual sized cakes. Cupcakes are baked in paper - or aluminum - cups and are served with frosting and sometimes other toppings such as sprinkles or chocolate shavings. They are popular at parties such as birthday parties and with small children.
